On India’s all-time list of international cricket run scorers, Rohit Sharma has climbed to fifth place. He surpassed Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The ex-Indian captain was in fifth place. But the present captain overtook Dhoni with 80 runs in the first innings of the second Test against West Indies.

Sharma has done this in far fewer matches than Dhoni, who played 535 international matches for India and scored 17,092 runs. But Dhoni also played a few matches for the Asia XI. As a result, his total international run tally is 17,266. The present Indian captain has played 443 matches for India so far, including the second Test against West Indies.
