Coach of Indian cricket team: As a person

In his playing days, Dravid’s honesty and forthrightness earned him a lot of respect. And that hasn’t changed now that he’s retired. Dravid is a man who cannot be disliked, from flying economy class to visiting a gas agency on his own to make a new connection.

We do know, though, that he is ideal for the job. Mr Dependable or the Wall, who has always been there to support the Indian team, Rahul Dravid will be doing the Indian team a favour by accepting to coach them, and here are reasons why.

Coach of Indian cricket team: Why respect so highly?

Dravid is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history. He is known for his solid batting technique.

In his 16 years long international career, Dravid played 164 tests, 344 ODI, and one T20 match for India. Dravid has scored 24,177 runs in international cricket. He has 48 International centuries altogether.

Mr Dependable is his nickname. But Indian cricket fans love to call him The Wall. If Dravid’s batting skills were remarkable, he was also Mr Dependable in the fielding. He holds the record for most catches by a non-wicketkeeper in Test cricket. In his 164 Test appearances, he has 210 catches.

In the 286 Test innings he has played, Dravid was never-ever out for a golden duck. He has faced 31258 balls in test cricket, which is the most of any player.

Coach of Indian cricket team: A legend, as well as a fellow team member

In 2012, Dravid announced his retirement from test cricket. He has represented India in test cricket with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ajinkya Rahane. During his tenure as the Rajasthan Royals’ captain cum mentor, he also worked with a young player like Sanju Samson. Some of the past players are now senior cricketers of the Indian cricket team. Dravid will be very comfortable with them. He will not face any problem sharing the dressing room with them.

This familiarity, however, does not decrease his importance. Dravid is a sports legend. It is implied that the young players of the Indian team don’t have to seek far for motivation.

Coach of Indian cricket team: His technical brilliance is a blessing

Dravid’s technique is good, and the legendary work ethic on which he built his successful career, is possibly exactly what India requires. The strength of a player’s fundamentals determines their effectiveness throughout forms and conditions, and Dravid is the ideal guy for the job.

Everyone scored runs in favourable batting conditions. But in foreign conditions, though his career, Dravid was frequently India’s top batsman. His abilities on those challenging, seaming and swinging wickets resulted in a level of consistency that is nearly unheard of these days. Players like Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Rohit Sharma might all benefit from his advice.

Coach of Indian cricket team: His adaptability is admirable.

Dravid played for India in a variety of roles during his career. No. 3 was his favourite batting position. But he batted in every position for the team. From the opening on a green pitch in England to being a finisher in ODIs at No. 6, Dravid batted in everywhere for the team. On the field, he has fielded across the outfield and even as a wickets-keeper. But he was one of the best slip fielders of all time. Dravid has done just everything for the squad (he’s also bowled). His adaptability was extraordinary. Dravid performed in all of his other responsibilities because of his adaptability. But he was never being a specialist in any of them.

Coach of Indian cricket team: His mental tenacity is unparalleled

Dravid was a brilliant cricketer because he stood forward to the face of adversity. It measured in his aggression, composed under pressure, persistent in his approach, and steely in defence.

This Indian cricket team has a lot of potentials. They were, however, delicate. They need to embrace Dravid’s attributes to become a world-beating unit.

Coach of Indian cricket team: Dravid as Captain

Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly’s assistant, went on to succeed him. Dravid’s record as India’s captain was not very impressive. In reality, it was one of the worst periods in Indian cricket history.

In 2004, while filling in for an injured Ganguly, Dravid led India to their first-ever Test victory on Pakistani soil. Virender Sehwag’s 309 and Dravid declaring the innings with Sachin Tendulkar on 194 runs, is remembered from this match. On the final day of the test, India won by an innings.

After 35 years under his leadership, India won our first Test series in the West Indies in 2006. India won 1-0 in the Tests after losing 4-1 in the ODIs, and it was a memorable victory.

Dravid was captain when India won their first Test in South Africa later that year. Unfortunately, India was not able to capitalize 1-0 lead and lost the series by 2-1.

India defeated England 1-0 in the Test series in 2007, with Dravid at the helm one more. It was the first time India won a Test series in England since 1986.

The Greg Chappel era and the 2007 World Cup debacle have left a bad taste in the mouth in his mouth.

So The Wall can be proud of a lot of things. He wasn’t our best leader, but he certainly wasn’t the worst.
